I had an AWESOME night last night, and I made a decision...

I was feeling like crap, a little sad about the sleeve situation etc. I am really sick with a sinus infection and I wanted to just go to bed early. BUT... I went to the gym to workout instead! I was so damn proud of myself I smiled all the way home. This week I lost 6 pounds total. Soooo... I made a decision. I am going to wait on everything. I have another appointment with my WLS next week to ask if they fix the ball of tissue thing, will it offer ANY relief. Even small relief from this horrible hunger. If it will, I will get it done asap. If it won't, I will just wait. I will see how far I can get by the summer and go from there. No matter what we do, all of us, not matter if we have had WLS, or we are on a diet program, it all comes down to willpower in the end and I WILL fight for myself. I AM strong. I have come so far. I believe in the sleeve. It has taken me half way. I still recommend it to everyone because for 97% of people it can take you all the way. Anyway, I also believe in exercise. I NEVER did it before and it should have been part of what I was already doing from the beginning. Now that I hit the wall, the stronger I make my body, the better my chances are that I can use that strength to bust the hell out of that wall. :)

Yes, I am still STARVING everyday. That part is really hard. Some of you have asked for a sample of what I eat... Here is sample of what I eat in a day to stay around 900-100 calories

Breakfast: protein shake, 30 grams of protein

Snack: 2 pieces of light baby bell cheese, 14 grams of protein

Lunch: 2 oz of tuna on 1 slice of toasted whole wheat bread: 15 grams of protein

Snack: carb master yogurt, 8 grams of protein

Dinner: chicken breast, no skin with one cup of veggies sprayed with "I can't believe it's not butter" spray, 20 grams of protein

Evening Snack: Protein shake, 30 grams of protein

Total protein per day around 100-115 grams. This should be more than enough to keep me full with a sleeve. I drink around 70 oz of water per day. If I am in the mood for dessert, I have a no sugar jello or pudding. This is why the Dr's can't understand what is going on. I don't drink soda, I don't eat rice etc. If I eat carbs it will be fruit or low fat wheat crackers.

So there you have it. I am going to try and starve it out for now, but I am more than open to learning more about the bypass. Especially because my PCOS is HORRIBLE and it would be awesome to not have to deal with that anymore. Either way, I MUST keep going with the gym and physical fitness. I know some can lose the weight without exercise, but if your goal is to be healthy, you have to move and I have spent enough years sitting on my ass.

Lisa, you lost 6 lbs this week alone simply by adding exercise...that means you had an 18000 calorie deficit..1000 calories (you need to talk to your doctor...may be too low once you start exercising..number 1..number 2..it looks like you can lose weight. You are strong. And quite frankly, if this is a 'failed' sleeve...then essentially it was like a security blanket. You have been doing it yourself for quite a while. ponder that for a bit.

I'm so happy to hear you say this! I couldn't chime in before because I have no experience with surgeries, but I was hoping hoping hoping you'd wait awhile on that bypass and focus on exercise.

You might be surprised to find exercise having an appetite-suppressing effect on you. It does for many people. Keep us posted!

I love that you're going to the gym! Good for you. I just started exercising again myself-- it's not easy!

I think the work outs are gonna help you to be honest.
One thing is why you might be getting hungry more often is some of your stuff isn't solid proteins or dense proteins. Shakes, yogurt are just gonna go through you even though the are high protein.
How about some eggs they are more dense and high protein low cal. Celery or apples with peanut butter thats a filling snack. WIth my yogurt I either add fresh fruit or my fiber supplement so it thickens it up and makes it more dense so it stays in me longer.
Even though your picking great things I don't think they are dense enough to keep you full for as long as you should be, just my two cents.
Do you like fish or crab meat? Thats a great source of protein and filling.

It sounds like you have a good plan. You're in a better place than I've seen you before, you're looking at the most conservative approach, surgery-wise, and are also keeping your options open in light of the PCOS benefits to the bypass. Well done :)

Yeahhhh! Thank you for posting a day in the life. :) I am nosy as i said. Personally I would suggest more veggies. That way you can bulk up your meals so that hopefully you will be less hungry. It seems weird to me (like you said your DR think so too) that your hungry. I (try to) eat low carb and many times I have no appetite. I HAVE to force myself to eat sometimes. But I do get lots of veggies in when I am snacking. Mostly celery with ranch (ranch powder/sour cream)

Great food choices :-)

Research your options.

I think this is a wonderful idea and I'm really glad you came to this conclusion. As the first commenter noted, you have been losing weight on your own anyway if your sleeve was failed. Exactly!! You can do this ... eating smart and exercising is working for you already!!
(I believe that what you're doing now will make a huge difference with your pcos. It did for mine.)

You are doing awesome. I have a thought/question for you. How much fat do they suggest you have per day? It looks like you have a very low fat diet, and I am not sure about all the medical stuff, but perhaps adding some healthy fats would help you stave off hunger. Maybe a bit of avocado with your tuna, a teaspoon of olive oil on your veggies?

Is it common to need such a high amount of protein after sleeve? I know for me adding some fibre really helps me to stay full longer. Fruit, veggies, and whole grains. Maybe add.a piece of fruit or cup of veggies with every meal?
