Second surgery in 3 days :(

Well, I have my second surgery in 5 months coming up in just three short days. I am VERY nervous. The Dr. said it is an "easy" surgery and my recovery should be easier than last time with the WLS. I have morbid thoughts of being under etc. It is weird because my gallbladder attack was only for one evening, then a dull pain for a couple of days and now it's gone. I fell GREAT so it's hard to understand why I need it taken out. BUT, I do know that GB attacks can lead to infections etc. and I don't want it to turn in to an emergency situation later. I still have over 70 pounds to go to reach my goal weight and I am ready for all this medical crap to be over. I will update as soon as I can afterwards. Thanks for caring.

((( hugs ))) Just to let you know that we just went through this over the past year - DH had his gall bladder removed in June 2011. Here's a post that I wrote just after his surgery:

We really hesitated getting it out but as we did more research (and he did an olive oil "cleanse" - which didn't work) we realized that gall bladder attacks/stones can have implications for the pancreas and liver - both organs that you cannot live without. Turned out that DH's one stone (he had a bit of sludge too) was so big they had to cut it in order to get it out of him! It was 2.5cm in diameter!
The surgery went extremely well - and DH had never been for surgery or put out EVER so I was anxious.
I hope that helps you!

Best of luck with the surgery-- feel better soon and get in as much water as possible from here forward, it helps with everything and is a necessity for healing and health....

No worries, its almost over with. I think on my last comment I was in mid-thought. Lol. But I have seen that the gall bladder surgery tends to happen a lot with the weightloss people.

I understand the morbid thoughts, after going under anesthesia at least 3 times within a year... and thinking about the fact that I had no memory of what happened, no dreams, nada.... is scary. And its worse when you have kids. You will be in my prayers though to ensure you come out okay and have a speedy recovery. :)

Yup. It will be easier and the last thing you want is a stinky, green infectd gallbladder (I've seen them. so NAST.) I do understand your hesitation for sure. It will be over soon, hon. ((HUG))

Good luck Lisa, I'm hoping it goes MUCH smoother for you than the VSG did. You weigh MUCH less now and the surgery is fairly quick and simple. Yes, I too had those feelings of WHY, but I tell you what I'm SO happy to never have GB pain again! Hang in there and soon you will be feeling 100% again! Hugs!

Sweetie, I had my gallbladder out when my daughter was 5 weeks old. I can tell you the pain is like having done too many sit-ups. Not sharp but dull and uncomfortable, but it doesn't last long. It would be a much quicker op than the VSG, so you will recover quicker, I promise!
