I joined a gym AND hired a personal trainer. I start with her on Monday night. (She doesn't work weekends or I would have started right away) I have to admit, I almost cried when I walked in. I am still the fat girl. I am still afraid people will laugh at me or worse, get grossed out at the site of me trying to work out. I have to go very slow. My physical therapist still hasn't cleared me to work out, but I can't wait anymore. I am going to avoid things that would push the limit with my back and my personal trainer is also a PTA so she knows about what I am doing in PT.
Yikes. In three short days I will be the main attraction at the gym "fair." The first prize pig winner being walked around by my handler for all to see. Scary much? Yes. I will let you know how it goes.

Just remember, people aren't looking at you as much as you think they are. You are doing something fantastic for yourself and if anyone has a problem with it, they can get over it. You DESERVE to be there and you are going to be a superstar!
You probably won't be the biggest person there. Not that it matters. What matters is that you exercise for your health and a gym is a good place to start!
Oh,lisa in one small post you seem to have slipped right back into that old negative tape. NO NO NO!
You are not a pig and you are NOT a side show. W ith this next step, you are closer to becoming who you really are. that negative tape will only hurt you! dITCH IT! hugs and congrats on this step forward! You'll do fantastic. I beleive in you.
When I was pushing 300 lbs I was very, very afraid of the people in the gym, but I quickly realized that the majority of them (ones taht weren't focusing on themselves and their workout) were very supportive and that it was awesome that I drug my wide load in there! It will be awesome.
I agree with the pp. I'm one of the bigger people at my gym and although I get stares from time to time, most people are super nice and/or too engrossed in what they're doing there to worry much about me, LOL!
Awww!! Can I tell you what I think when I see someone 'your size' in the gym? GOOD FOR YOU!! KEEP IT UP!!
Fake it til you make it! Keep your chin up!! I am so proud of you!!
Way to go Lisa!! Excercise will change your life even more! And I think all those people in the gym will only look at you with admiration. I do!
Everyone has to start somewhere. What's important is that you're starting :)
Yes, what Amanda said!
Oh stop it!!! You are amazing!!
Trainers ROCK!!! I see mine twice a week and when I started I thought, "for a month... Maybe two" now I am hooked!! My trainer is a neccessitiy!! I am worth it and so are you!!
Don't be so harsh girl! You know what they will think? Good for her! They will be inspired by you and the fact that you are changing your life. Be careful and just enjoy it! Working out can be fun if you let it be. :) I've always wanted to work with a trainer, I'm excited to hear how it goes for you!
I don't know if you got my comment...I just hope you know that you are as good as anyone else there lisa...and you deserve to be there. Hugs and love.
you are amazing! i have been so inspired by you.
i will also say that you weigh less than i do right now (according to your ticker) and i know i'm never the biggest one at the gym so rest assured, neither will you be!
((hugs))lady!
Wait, wait, wait! You are doing something about your health!! Hopefully, people will see someone that is willing to do whatever it takes to pursue health!! By the way, others are far more concerned about themselves.
